Excavating machinery is used to very quickly remove soil or turf from areas in a prompt and safe manner. Some are larger than others to cope with vaster project areas, and others are designed in a miniature size for better ease of use within small areas or for less arduous ground plans. Depending on your requirements, there will be various excavator sizes from which you can select, each providing different purposes, results and manoeuvrability.
The smallest of the excavator sizes is referred to as the mini excavator. The larger models can weigh in at as much as ninety tonnes, so of course this is not the model that you would choose to hire for a simple rear garden landscaping job! Some come designed to also be used as a bulldozer or even with crane attachments. Of course, the larger the excavator, the larger the wheels and the larger the wheels, the better the stability of the machinery. With a more stable piece of equipment comes the opportunity to use it in a less flat terrain, a simple mini excavator would not cope on its slim wheels and would be likely to tilt or slip through muddy areas.
Generally, when someone thinks of an excavator, they think of a huge piece of heavy-duty equipment often found on a building site alongside bulldozers, trucks, loaders and are owners of large shovels and forked buckets. You might notice when watching a building site that the same excavator uses varying sizes of buckets by way of connecting to new attachments, thus radically changing its primary use quickly. If you select carefully, your choice of machinery could be extremely versatile and sued for lots of purposes.
Larger machinery will require their driver to have a special licence so generally cannot be hired out by the public of course. The smaller mini excavators usually involve the person whom wishes to hire such a piece of equipment to read or agree to a set of safety rules set by the rental company, before they will be allowed to take the machinery away for use. Machines such as telehandlers follow the same rules; a license is a necessity as a crane driver of sorts operates them. They are much like cherry pickers but they are usually used to pick up crates and loading pallets.
Each style and type of heavy-duty machinery differs in lots of ways, from their strength, to their uses, loading capacity and their reach. It is important to be extremely careful to consider each of these points before requesting to hire such a complicated and expensive piece of equipment. If you are not confident enough to drive one yourself then you should be able to easily hire a licensed member of staff to complete this task for you. Often, the companies involved will be able to recommend such a driver to you, who can assist you safely and enable the job at hand to be completed quickly and efficiently.
